Bicycle Fine Art at Kitty Clay, Southampton – Summer 2017

Bicycle Fine Art, Feature Article, Press

Bicycle Fine Art is thrilled to announce it’s collaboration with Kitty Clay for another summer. Kitty Clay’s showroom in Southampton is a beautiful space featuring many wonderful home furnishings and incredible works of art. We are excited to show off two paintings by David Donovan Jensen and one drawing by Neal Perbix which will be on display there for the rest of the summer.

The unique treasures that Kitty Clay brings to her showroom from her world travels compliment Bicycle Fine Art’s founder Lisa-Thi Beskar’s eye for excellence in fine art. The result is a well curated showcase that highlights the refined character of Jensen and Perbix’s work while at the same time exemplifying Kitty Clay’s unique brand of interior design.

Bicycle Fine Art and Kitty Clay are excited to be working together once again, and their partnership has produced a fantastic exhibition that acts as a follow-up to their first collaboration in 2015.

David Donovan Jensen
Ocean Hymn, No. 4, 2016
[DDJ.24]
Acrylic and pastel on paper
Paper dimensions: 29.5 x 22.25 in.
Frame dimensions: 32 x 24.5 in.

In David Donovan Jensen’s recent Hymn series, each work takes its name from a natural element that inspired him during the piece’s creation. The work hanging currently in Southampton, entitled Ocean Hymn, No. 4, features the calm blue tones of its namesake. The inspiration behind its creation also makes it fit right in at the showroom of Kitty Clay, which is located at 116 North Sea Road—less than a mile from the ocean.

Neal Perbix
Untitled, 2017
[NP.32]
Walnut Veneer Drawing mounted on 4-ply acid free rag mat
Custom maple wood frame
Limited Edition of 10
Framed: 35.75 x 25.75 in.

This walnut veneer drawing by Neal Perbix is one of an edition of ten made exclusively for sale by Bicycle Fine Art. Neal’s work explores his interest in slowing down the pace of our increasingly impersonal and digital world, making this piece the perfect one to hang in Southampton, a popular destination for New Yorkers seeking a brief respite from the stress of city life.

David Donovan Jensen
Fire Hymn, No. 2, 2016
[DDJ.27]
Acrylic and pastel on paper
Paper dimensions: 29.5 x 22.25 in.
Frame dimensions: 32 x 24.5 in.

To act as a counterbalance to David Donovan Jensen’s Ocean Hymn, No. 4, also hanging at Kitty Clay’s is the painting entitled Fire Hymn, No. 2 from the same series. This piece highlights the calm nature of a flickering flame while the layers of texture magnificently combine with the exciting energy and deep tones imagined in a Russian choral oeuvre.

If you’re out in the Hamptons this summer, hope you will have a chance to stop by!
